Partnering with FCB Cape Town and Hellocomputer, NetFlorist launched a digital campaign that creatively addressed this environmental and commercial crisis by shifting the narrative from traditional floral gifts to water-wise succulents, specifically cacti. Recognizing that the message "Nothing says I love you quite like flowers" no longer resonated under the harsh drought conditions, the campaign encouraged customers to "say it with a cactus," aligning gifting practices with the region’s water restrictions. Adding a socially responsible dimension, the campaign included a commitment to donate R10 to the National Drought Relief Fund for every cactus purchased, engaging consumers emotionally and ethically at a moment of regional crisis. This clever repositioning not only helped sustain sales but dramatically boosted them, achieving a 46% increase and becoming NetFlorist's most successful promotion to date.
