Disney’s "A Wish for the Holidays" campaign leverages the emotional resonance of family and togetherness during the holiday season, reinforcing the brand’s long-standing positioning as a creator of magical, heartwarming experiences. The campaign’s core proposition centers on the universal desire to reconnect with loved ones, presenting Disney’s latest theatrical release, "Wish," as a shared cultural moment that brings people together. By aligning the film with the holiday spirit, Disney promises an evocative narrative that offers both escapism and emotional fulfillment, reinforcing its identity within the recreation and leisure sector as a facilitator of meaningful, joyous experiences. Strategically, the campaign taps into a seasonal insight: the holidays are a peak time for travel and leisure, driven by a collective longing for presence and celebration with family and friends. The creative angle employs storytelling to evoke sentiment, using the narrative film format to deepen emotional engagement. Targeting is implied through timing (November release) and cultural relevance, reaching U.S. audiences during a period when consumers are more receptive to messages about connection and celebration. This approach situates the film not just as entertainment but as a potential holiday tradition, thereby strengthening Disney’s foothold in the travel and leisure market by associating the brand with the emotional and experiential aspects of holiday travel and gathering. The campaign’s focused media asset and cinematic release contribute to a consolidated strategy of immersive storytelling, reinforcing Disney’s market leadership in emotionally driven leisure experiences.

FORMAT#9 SYMBOLIZE THE BENEFIT — Uses symbols or exaggerated visuals to represent the product’s positive impact. This campaign fits FORMAT#9 because the narrative centers on the universal holiday wish to be together with family and friends—an emotional desire that Disney symbolically connects to its new movie, “Wish,” releasing around the holidays. Rather than focusing on demonstrating features or directly showing a story where the product resolves a conflict, the campaign leverages the symbolic power of wishes and togetherness as metaphors for the joy and magic Disney films provide. There’s no explicit problem–solution arc, celebrity focus, or direct comparison; instead, emotional resonance is created through the alignment of "wish" as both a movie title and a larger, universally understood benefit, visually and narratively associating Disney’s offering with the heartwarming power of wishes granted and families united.
